I've never punched or kicked before - will the instructor show me what to do?
Yes! Our kickboxing classes are beginner friendly. The instructor will personally coach you through each of the punching and kicking techniques so that you can do them safely and effectively. The instructor will also help you improve your skills along the way by giving you tips, advice, and corrections on the techniques and combinations you are doing. You'll have the basics down in no time, and we'll keep helping you progress in every class! |
I'm a little out of shape - will these classes be too hard for me?
Not at all! No matter what your current fitness level is, we will help you step by step from where you are. The activities and exercises in our classes are easily adaptable to a variety of athletic skills. We include beginner, intermediate, and seriously challenging versions of the training in every class. If we do push ups, for example, you can do them on your knees, up on your toes, or even a push up popping up off the floor! Furthermore, we often do timed rounds of exercise in our classes, instead of requiring a specific number of reps (after all, 20 push ups for some people is difficult, but for other people it's easy - so we prefer to give you 20 seconds to do as many as you can!). Plus, it's always okay to take the workout at your own pace. Push yourself when you can, and rest a little if you need to. |
Do I need to wear boxing gloves for these workouts?
Yes, we use gloves in every kickboxing class. If you already have your own pair of gloves, you are welcome to bring them. If you prefer to purchase your own pair of gloves for class, we have some excellent quality gloves available, or we can recommend some of the best options online (such as on Amazon). There are times during our workouts when we will not be wearing boxing gloves - for example, if/when we use our dumbbell weights, or medicine balls, or during our cool down stretches at the end of class.
